*Inauthentic Attribution: Only one impression of this print has been observed. The only reason to think that this work is by Ernest Fiene is that his name appears (in a hand other than his own) in the place, lower right, just below the image, where Fiene typically signed his prints. Furthermore, its other annotations and characteristics are also atypical:

• **The numbering appears lower center. All observed, numbered impressions of Fiene prints have the numbering lower left.
• The title is printed (i.e. not in script), not in the artist's hand, and is in quotation marks, lower left. All other observed, titled impressions of Fiene prints appear in the artist's hand and in script.
• The signature, as noted above, is not in the artist's hand.
• No other color intaglio print by Fiene is known.
• No other known cityscapes by Fiene are in the style of geometric abstraction seen here. (See New York City Prints)

It is possible, though very unlikely, that Fiene somewhere, sometime made this completely uncharacteristic print but did not annotate or sign it, and someone else knowing it to be by him annotated it and forged his signature, but there is no credible reason to believe this occurred. Therefore, until new information proves otherwise, we have concluded that this work is not by Ernest Fiene.
